В данной книге на широком историческом материале анализируются тенденции этнического развития иранского общества и изменение основных элементов его социальной структуры; прослеживается процесс формирования национального состава Ирана, дается общая характеристика основных этнических групп; рассматривается динамика этносоциальных изменений на различных этапах исторического развития страны (в период монархии и при республиканском исламском режиме).

The book deals with the problems of the ethnosocial development of the Iranian society in monarch and in modem Iran. The author makes use of extensive Russian and foreign sources and archives. She endeavoured to pinpoint the major tendencies of ethnical evolution of Iran and changes of its social structure. Characteristics of Iranian community are discussed in the light of relations between the Iranians- Shiites as the representatives of the “title” ethnicity taking elite social level (in trade, finance, business etc.) and other ethnical groups which compose the ethnosocial periphery. The ethnic and social non-equality takes form of discrimination on the basis of language, religion, culture. Roots of conflicts, and national movements (of the Kurds, Baluchees, Turkmens, Azerbaijanese, Arabs and Kashkais), and factors that consolidated and differentiated Iranian society in the period of monarchy and of the years of Islamic Republic are being extensively analyzed.
